Every wedding is so different and this Couple proved it. The weddings they planned and executed were meaningfully unique, deeply personal and filled with love. Once I was selected as their Officiant, I simply held on for the ride. I was charmed by this Couple, their darling family and such genuine friends. Thank you sooooo much for including me and my very best to you both. Love, Claire PS: See you at Bubba’s Sulky Lounge soon!
Melissa & John
T3R8 Baxter State Park, ME

Melissa’s elopement plan sounded so exciting I couldn’t wait for the day to come! I knew I was in for a treat to finally see Katahdin. But turned out meeting Melissa, John and Melissa’s parents was the highlight. Everyone was so charming and funny – we clicked immediately. Look at that scenery! And I recognize that look on my face – I’m choked up. This was one of the most loving and meaningful ceremonies I’ve ever officiated. Rock on T3R8!
Sharyn & Jacob
Private Residence, Intervale, NH

Sharyn had a vision of her wedding and she allowed NOTHING to get in her way. I cannot believe the curves thrown at this couple (everything-included-vendor bailed on them!) but they remained calm and incredibly joyful throughout the entire weekend. Their families blend seamlessly and made me feel right at home. The girls were perfect and the groomsmen could’ve jumped out of a firemen’s calendar (mercy!) Can you tell? I would do this wedding again in a minute!
Renee & John
Hardy Farm, Fryeburg, ME
Claire’s reply
From the glorious drive to Fryeburg to the delightful woodland altar, this wedding was beautiful, unique and so meaningful. The surprise Renee speaks of was my version of The Seven Blessings – The 8 Blessings. They wanted to add an element of some sort, but couldn’t decide on one in time for the wedding. So, before the processional began, I chose 8 guests at random and gave them each a blessing to read. Right before the Ring Exchange, I said “we have a surprise for you” and one by one, they stood and read the 8 blessings. It was fun to watch Renee & John’s heads turn back and forth seeing who would stand up next! Some readers read their blessing with real gusto which was an added treat!

Kate & Dan
Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor, ME

Thank you Dan & Kate! Yours was my first elopement on Cadillac Mountain. This couple is so wonderful! They drove from RI to Bar Harbor, Maine for their runaway wedding weekend. They were so excited, endearing and genuine. On elopement day, a storm chased us off the very top of Cadillac Mt, but our intrepid photographer (Ashley Jardin of She of the Woods Photography) had a great backup location further down. I prevailed upon two visiting biophysicists from Germany to get out of their warm car and be our witnesses. They were a hoot: “But we are not related to them!” This elopement was just thrilling – I can’t think of another word for it. The wedding, the mountains, the foliage, the linda vista. I won’t soon forget any of it and wish Dan and Kate the very best!

welcome to the
SAVOIR CLAIRE BLOG!
Portland Maine’s Valentine’s Day Bandit
There’s a delightful mystery in Portland, Maine. For decades, every morning on Valentine’s Day, the city wakes to red hearts taped everywhere…on windows, storefronts, light-posts, and mailboxes – literally everywhere. One enormous red heart banner is saved for a miraculous reveal. Last year it donned the Portland Museum of Art. Once it was hung across the scaffolding that is now the Ocean Institute on Commercial Street.
Ring Decision
I didn’t stress over picking out my wedding ring. It would just be a simple band. We went downtown to the ring store, picked out a sweet one and the nice man said, “Would you like it inscribed?” I hadn’t thought about that. “What do people usually do?” I asked. He said mostly wedding dates, sometimes a single word or simple phrase like forever or love always. I looked at my fiancé who had that “wedding dazed” look on his face. I love him dearly but he checks out over details like this. The ring needed to be sized, so I had time. I said I would think about it and let them know.
Dances with Wolves
I’m a wedding Officiant now, but in another life, I worked at a zoo. Yes, I was a zookeeper. And got to know two wolves. There were two adult Timberwolves on exhibit in a wooded enclosure. Once, the curator of wolves invited me in to visit with them while he cleaned the exhibit. He said animals, in general, seemed to like me, so why not try. So I did.
